Home MRA Media Central What is Quantitative Research Internet Surveys

Internet surveys are the newest method of survey data collection. They involve collecting information from respondents through pre-programmed web pages. Advantages of web surveys include dynamic, interactive question formats; privacy in answering sensitive questions, and quick turn-around time.

DID YOU KNOW?
With the popularity of online surveys and the accessibility of the internet growing exponentially every day, “sugging”--selling under the guise of research--also carried out via the internet when sellers send unsolicited emails to individuals claiming that they are conducting research when they are actually attempting to sell something to the recipient. Commercial emails from marketers are also being confused with legitimate online surveys.

The FTC enacted the CAN SPAM Act in 2004 to regulate commercial emails. Under CAN-SPAM, unsolicited commercial messages must include notice that the message is an advertisement or solicitation, an opt-out notice, and a valid postal address of the sender.

Survey research is not implicated in the CAN SPAM Act.
