Government Affairs Mission
To monitor relevant legislative and regulatory activity, to ensure that the interests of the research community are protected, and to educate industry members regarding relevant legislative, statutory and regulatory issues.

Government Affairs Objectives
I. Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory activities that affect the research industry

II. Educate our members/members of the research community about the legislative and regulatory measures that threaten research and of MRA's efforts to protect the research industry

III. Educate our members/members of the research community about existing statutes and regulations that impact the research industry

IV. Educate lawmakers/policymakers about the value of research, the distinction between research and sales-related activities and the negative implications restrictive measures have on research

V. Respond to abuses of the research process and work with lawmakers/government officials to regulate and prosecute such activities

VI. Pro-activity on legislative and regulatory measures

VII. Build coalitions with other organizations to use as resources of information and to strengthen our ability to act on restrictive and proactive legislative and regulatory measures
